Changes to www.djsonaronline.com

I think it is time for me to revamp the whole way I get music out to the masses. I am no longer concerned with becoming a huge over-paid rockstar. I mean I would like that to happen, (who wouldn’t) but that was not the reason I started spinning tunes. So here is what I am planning to do:

· I am going to make all music and mixtapes available for download on my website http://www.djsonaronline.com/. Just point, click, download, listen and enjoy. No waiting for the CD to arrive in the mail. No being forwarded to other sites. Just instant gratification. That is what the internet is about, right?
· CD case artwork and CD artwork will be available in the download file. This is just in case you want it.
· If you like what you hear then instead of going through the pain in the butt forms and what not to get to a download screen to download the music. I am going to have a donation button and if you want to drop a few pennies, or dollars for the music then it would be much appreciated.
· I am working right now to team up with a few charities and non-profit organizations. At least half the money made through donations on the site will go to helping the one I choose. I am reviewing a few right now and will announce the one as soon as I decide. The other half of the money goes to me to help get gigs in areas close to you. I mean gas and vehicle maintenance are big issues when playing out of town gigs.
· These changes will take place within a month to month-and-a-half. I am one guy running this site. I have to balance music, gigs, work, school, capoeira, and a nearly non-existent social life in order to bring forth a functional website for everyone. So, if the pages look screwy or the site is actually down, then that means I am working on it and will have everything in order shortly.

There it is, the changes that I am going to make happen. If you have got any suggestions on any of these then give me a call or email me. Also, if you have any suggestions on charities or non-profits then please let me know too. Much love to all

The final days of City Bar

I have seen countless clubs come and go in my short stint being a club entertainer. Usually, it is because lack of business or to many violations that were cited or just the owners did not know how to run a night club. However, City Bar was different. The owner, Mark Fischer decided to do something a little off the beaten path. He decided to shut the doors to one of the busiest night spots in Charleston, South Carolina. He stated on the final night, “If you are going to go out, go out on top!”

So how do I fit into all of this you might be wondering? Well, I was asked to be the one to get the place to bounce for the last few days and close the place down in a way that everyone would remember. I admit I was a bit nervous to take the task of rocking the place one last time and with little preparation. (I was called three days before the event and asked if I was available.) I actually owe the whole gig to the City Bar staff. If it were not for Erica, Chad, Heather and Christina on the first time I went in there then I would probably have not played there. They believed in my remixed musical vision to be good enough to tear the place down one final time. I will never forget the favor and I hope I see each of them again very soon.

The last three nights the crowds were great, everyone was getting down to the music I was playing and really enjoyed themselves. I could tell because I was feeding off the energy they were creating. And I personally want to thank everyone who was out there to party one last time. I mean if it was not for the club goers then I’m sure the last few nights would have flopped and it would have been hell for me to try and play in another place in Charleston. So thanks to you Charleston partiers!

I also met a good many people over those last few nights. There is way to many to name but just shouting out to Cam, Kaotic (who is a bad ass b-boy…I mean that boy is a show all in its own.) Laura (and her cute nose ring), Chad who even with half the lights dead can still put on a great light arrangement, and any other shout outs that I missed. Like Doug, Liz and Jordan. (I feel I’m going to have to update this blog posting.)

I really want to thank my good friends who came out and supported me as well. Marie and her friend Jen (Jen, if you want me to play your Halloween Bash I need to know the times asap), Renee (who let her friends go home so she could stay there and watch the show), and Allison (who because of her presence the party could finally start.) Thank you for your continued support in all things that I do.

Most importantly, I really want to thank Mark and Hillary Fischer, the owners of City Bar. They were the final say if I was good enough to stay through out the weekend. Just on a personal note Mark is a good guy and not like very many club owners that I know. Yes, he does care about bills getting paid, but we talked for a while during the staff party and he really does care about making a memorable time for all his club guests. He has some great ideas and I can guarantee that this is not the last Fischer establishment you will see in Charleston. What works in my favor is that those ideas of his include my twisted vision on what music should be. So it definitely will not be the last time you see me Charleston. And Hillary, I think you do a great job grounding Mark. He loves you a lot and anyone can see it.

If you are one of the people that got my CDs when I was throwing them out, I hope you like them. If you do great! Burn a few copies to give to your friends. If you don’t then no worries, they make excellent coasters for when your friends come over. Much love to all.
